Acrylic Inserts Arrived Today

The acrylic inserts for my "Sew Perfect" sewing table arrived today.  I can hardly wait to try them out.

I have been waiting for about 3 weeks for these, knowing it would take a few weeks, and have a few projects that are just sitting there waiting to be machine quilted.  I hope I have the patience to do this well.

Daylight Savings Time

Did you notice how dark it was Tuesday morning?  My alarm goes off at 6 A.M.and when it rang Tuesday morning, it was so dark that I thought it was the middle of the night!  Daylight really tanks at this time of year.

We'll turn our clocks back 1 hour on Nov. 4th .  It will seem darker than ever then and daylight will continue to decrease untill the winter solstice on Dec. 21st. Then, finally, the daylight time will increase.

So the question is, will my sewing time increase or decrease?  Hopefully it will increase.

Missing in Action

Now that my sewing supplies are neatly organized, I can't find anything!  I'm not sure how this happens...maybe I need another bureau.  I feel like the "Queen of Stuff"!

The Need to Organize

I spent a good deal of time organizing my sewing collections.  Fabric, notions, patterns, thread, sharp stuff out of reach of our two year old.  I'm also purging a bit, too.

I ordered my acrylic inserts and am eager to use them.

Get out of my way! I'm ready to sew :o)

My new sewing table!!! Yea!

I just bought the greatest sewing table!  It's an adjustable Sew Perfect Table by Tony's Sewing Machines in Biddeford Maine.  I love it!   His website is http://tonyssewingmachine.com/

I've been looking for a cabinet model since May and bought an old model Singer table model from Craigslist, which was just that, old. It did everything I expected, but I have two newer and better machines that I'd rather use but they won't fit into this cabinet without a major overhaul.  I don't have the router, skill saw, etc. to redo this, so basically it's history.  I'll probably give it away or sell it real cheap.

SO-O-O, I've been searching the internet for weeks for a flat surface table model with inserts that will accomodate my two machines and finally found the Sew Perfect Table.  (I'm so excited.)  I drove to Biddeford yesterday and spoke with Tony about his tables and was so impressed!  He has created these tables and manufactures them.  I love that they're made in Maine and not overseas.  They're sturdy, adjustable table top heights and machine bed heights. Optional inserts that are custom made for just about any model of sewing machine can be purchased separately.  I have a Singer and a Kenmore so I ordered the inserts for both of my machines and expect them to arrive at my door in a few weeks, and I can't wait to do some free motion quilting.

Leah Day's Website

I am so inspired by Leah"s website.  She has tons of helpful quilting ideas and a blog of her own.

Threads

I got to thinking about Thread Dreamer. Initially, I was going to blog about my quilting but various 'threads of living' appeared, as I lay me down to sleep, that had nothing to do with it.  My world is full of threads, kinda like a spider web, and they're all connected to me.  I'm so blessed!

Here are a few such threads:
1) Perfection: I usually think my daughter is a perfectionist and would rather not do something than have anything wrong about it.  I wonder if she got that from me?  I was thinking that Quilting is what I have allowed myself to do in my free time.  It's my hobby so I'll do what I want when I want to.  I won't impose time constraints.  (The last quilt I did took about 5 years.) It seems that I enjoy the creative process more than the actual grand production of making a quilt.  Once I've conquered the creative and mechanical aspects of the quilt, I'm ready to move on.  So-o-o-, I am only making small quilts now because of this.
It seems that as I attempt to free motion quilt, I need to have my 'house in order'.  i.e. dishes washed, beds made, nothing else to do) Well, consequently I don't have much time for sewing this way.
I think the solution is to have a quilting room or a room that I can control. (H-m-m-m contro issues?),
so I've designated a section of my bedroom as a sewing space. I am in the process of organizing my bureaus and closet so I can find things.  Then I'll have my stuff organized.
I also need the perfect quilting table, cheap.  I'm still working on this

2) The House Search: The kids are looking for a house and have been living with us for a little over a year saving and searching.  It seems that if you are looking for a fairly new, single family home with 3 or more bedrooms, and  1+ acres in Auburn, your can expect to pay through the nose and be taxed $3,000+.  Thats Nuts!  ...they're still looking.

Ambitions

I am going to teach myself how to machine quilt.  Leah Day's website is a terrific inspiration.  She's an awesome young teacher.  I will learn a lot from her and improve my sewing.

Sleepless

Another sleepless night.  I may as well try to figure this blog out.  I have 2 entries with the same name and want to delete one, but can't figure out how yet.  I'll keep trying while the Advil PM starts to work it's magic.
